Revitalization of an iconic 1926 structure, blending historic preservation with modern mixed-use possibilities
SWD Architects is providing its design expertise regarding the restoration of the historic 601 Minnesota building in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Kansas. This seven-story building was completed in 1926 as the Commercial National Bank building and later went through an extensive building modernization in 1968. The façade is dominated by the modern design that saw the original façade of limestone, brick, and terracotta covered by pre-cast concrete, aluminum, and glass panels. A mixed-use program is being studied for the building that would consist of commercial and residential uses. Stay tuned for exciting updates as this building project unfolds!
