SWD Architects developed an adaptive design for 30 new senior apartments that maintains the historically significant areas within the original dormitory building. The design preserves the original circulation path and historic details throughout the building while also incorporating a large portion of the original dorm rooms into the new apartment floor plans. The original lobby and the building exterior were also restored to their original appearance as part of the renovation.
The Enid Senior Residences is a historic renovation and adaptive reuse of a former college dormitory on the campus of Northern Oklahoma College.
Originally constructed in 1941, the dormitory had fallen into a state of deterioration after it was vacant for 25 years.
