Built 1926-1929 | Historic Renovation & General Rehabilitation for 9 Buildings
SWD provided architectural consulting services relative to historic renovation and general rehabilitation of the nine existing buildings with 216 total apartments. All apartment units were designated as affordable housing units utilizing the competitive Missouri Housing Development Commission’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program.

Built between 1926 and 1929, St. Luke’s Plaza Apartments is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making the buildings eligible for historic tax credits. For decades, St. Luke’s Plaza Apartments was a primary source of housing for nurses employed by St. Luke’s Hospital, which was located nearby at 5535 Delmar before it moved to St. Louis County in the mid-1970s.

Currently St. Luke’s Plaza Apartments is bounded by several vacant lots, many of which are owned by the city. The hope is the renovation will spur other development in the area.
