FEATURED PROJECT, MULTI-FAMILY

The Backyard at One North served as the residential component within the larger One North master development. This project offered a distinct opportunity to transform a brownfield industrial site into a thriving and sustainable community in the central part of the Metro area. The development reflects the ongoing growth of North Kansas City, a historically quieter urban district situated north of the Missouri River and enveloped by downtown Kansas City and Kansas City North.

The Backyard community consists of 240 apartment units across 4 stories which include 20 studio units; 146 one-bedroom units with a mix of unit layouts, size and includes a den option; and 74 two-bedroom units.

The community amenities align with the name “The Backyard” by providing outdoor space for socializing with friends, family, and pets. These outdoor features encompass grassy areas perfect for picnics, sunbathing, and spending time with pets. Among these spaces is a pool and hot tub surrounded by TVs and grilling stations.

The Social Lounge serves as a versatile indoor area that connects to the patio through two garage doors, enabling it to adapt for various uses. Within the Social Lounge, you’ll find a community kitchen equipped with a commercial gas range stovetop, an ice maker, and a mini-fridge. The space also features multiple TVs, a fireplace, comfortable seating sections, and WiFi, making it the central indoor hub of the community.
